Ice-storm burst line
Gorge ice event · State Farm
We dispatch up I-84 from our NE Portland depot — most Hood River addresses see a crew inside 80 minutes, and we keep a pre-staged trailer in the gorge during winter storm windows. Burst pipes, ice-storm damage, gorge wind roof leaks, well-pump floods. Licensed, IICRC certified, direct insurance billing.
When a gorge ice or wind event is forecast, we move a fully-stocked trailer to Cascade Locks before it hits — so when the call comes, the response time is gorge-local, not Portland-local. Year-round, we're 60–90 minutes up I-84.
Gorge ice events bring -10°F wind chills. Older Hood River farmhouses and 60s vacation homes around Parkdale lose hose bibs, supply lines, and even meter pits in a single night.
Sustained 60+ mph gorge wind pulls shingles, lifts flashing, and drives rain horizontally into eaves. We see ceiling leaks two days after the wind ends, when warming weather thaws the moisture.
Most gorge homes are on private wells. When a pressure tank fails or a well-house freezes and bursts, you've got an unmetered water source filling a basement until someone shuts the breaker.
Mt. Hood snowmelt runs through orchards on its way to the Columbia. Homes downhill of upper-Valley farms see seasonal groundwater that contractors keep mistaking for plumbing leaks.

Most Portland-side restoration shops won't drive past Troutdale. We will, and we plan for it. When the weather forecast calls for a gorge ice event, we move a stocked trailer to Cascade Locks before the call comes. Every gorge job has the same lead tech start to finish.
“Two homes on our road lost pipes in the January ice storm. We were the only one who got a contractor out the next day. They were already in Cascade Locks waiting on calls.”

“Well-house pressure tank let go at 6am. They drove up I-84 in a snowstorm and were here by 9. Documented everything for the rural carrier — we got paid in full.”
